About Sherie

Sherie's Background and Approach

Sherie Solomon is Valley Spring Recovery Center's SUD Evening Virtual Therapist, a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor with more than 20 years of substance use counseling experience across a wide range of treatment settings, including the judicial system, and with both adolescent and adult populations. She holds a Master of Human Services (MHS) from Lincoln University and is a Clinical Certified Supervisor (CCS) in New Jersey, a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor II (CASAC II) in New York, and a Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) in Connecticut. Sherie runs the evening virtual groups and individual sessions for clients in the Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient programs, and she also provides family therapy, with a particular focus on women's issues and on the anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, and trauma that so often travel with a substance use disorder. Her work is strength-based and meets clients where they are: she uses both abstinence-based and harm-reduction approaches, recognizing that recovery is not one-size-fits-all, and her practice integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Behavioral Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), relapse prevention, recovery coaching principles, peer support resources, and Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) support. She develops personalized relapse-prevention plans with clients and helps them identify the factors driving their substance use. Sherie has completed the iTHIRST Spiritual Companion Training and, for clients who want it, weaves faith-based or spirituality-integrated counseling into treatment as a source of strength, hope, purpose, and healing, always respecting each person's beliefs and values. Her goal is a collaborative, judgment-free environment in which clients build the confidence, resilience, and tools for lasting wellness. She is committed to lifelong learning and plans to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
