About Meghan

Meghan's Background and Approach

Meghan McCullough is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the state of New Jersey and serves as a Primary Therapist at Valley Spring, providing treatment to clients experiencing substance use disorders (SUD) and mental health challenges. Drawing on her experience at NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Westchester Behavioral Health and in private practice, Meghan brings a compassionate, individualized approach to therapy. Meghan earned her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Fordham University and her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Marist University. She is committed to helping clients navigate the challenges of recovery, build confidence in their ability to create change, and work toward becoming the best versions of themselves.

Meghan integrates evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help clients develop effective coping strategies, improve emotional well-being, and work toward lasting, positive change. In working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders, Meghan supports clients in understanding the underlying factors contributing to substance use, identifying triggers, and developing healthier ways to manage stress. She emphasizes the importance of building practical coping skills, strengthening emotional regulation, and fostering self-awareness to support recovery and reduce the risk of relapse. Meghan strives to create a supportive, nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel empowered to explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and build a strong foundation for sustainable recovery.

Meghan also incorporates a psychodynamic approach to explore past experiences and relationship patterns that may influence present-day behaviors. Her integrative approach addresses both substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns, supporting clients in developing healthier patterns and improving their overall quality of life.
